Our Company
Since 1966, JPPE has served both the local and international jewellery industry with our passion for creating exquisite colour gemstone jewellery.
JPPE was founded right here in the heart of Cape Town, South Africa, by Mr Peter Gilson and a small circle of like-minded partners. Over the last 50+ years, the company has grown to over 30 employees, and our specialisation in cutting-edge CAD design, vast collections of natural colour gemstones and decades-long relationships with our clients have brought JPPE to the esteemed position we are grateful to hold in the modern market.
With our passion for both popular and rare precious stones and our unyielding commitment to the highest-quality workmanship – we are proud to say that all of our designs are reflections of the work and love we put into our craft.
JPPE is a proudly accredited member of the Jewellery Council of South Africa and the Gemmological Institute of America.
Our Story
As told by our current director of operations: Kyle Gilson.
“Years ago, my father, Peter Gilson told me of how his passion for gemstones began as a young boy.
Of the first time he encountered the magical chatoyancy of Tigers eye, and how it put him on an adventure of a lifetime, recalling stories of his travels in search of the most beautiful minerals and gemstones, and all the wonderful people he met around South Africa and Namibia in his relentless pursuit – many of whom we are still partnered with today.
His love for semi-precious stones and his desire to create new ranges of jewellery featuring both gemstones and South African-mined diamonds has created a niche and a legacy in the South African jewellery market, one which JPPE is proud to serve to this day.
As the company has evolved and grown over the years, we have developed extensive jewellery ranges to appeal to a much broader range of clients. Our original hand-carved designs inspired by the Big Five and the wild beauty of the South African continent have remained a must-have for local jewellers serving the tourist market, and our newer CAD pieces have continued that legacy well into the current technological era.
We will continue to build on my father’s vision for the future, and aim to take JPPE and our clients to new strengths for years to come.”
